Shrews Deny Tolley Link - Ipswich Town News

The identity of the young midfielder, thought to be from the Third Division, that George Burley had a bid refused for earlier in the week remains a mystery. But another suggested name can be crossed off the list.

Shrewsbury have denied that it was their man Jamie Tolley. Tolley is an 18-year-old midfielder who, despite being born in England, has recently made his debut for the Welsh U21s.

Shrewsbury Director Keith Sayfritz said: "We've heard nothing from anyone about anyone. We don't have to sell anyone and for a player like Jamie it would take a lot of money."

Tolley was first linked to Town in April. He is rated very highly and was the target of a ÂŁ500,000 bid by Cardiff just before deadline day. Leeds have also been amongst a number of clubs watching him. He certainly fits the promising youngster tag which Burley put on his target, but it seems he isn't the one.
