Keane Happy With Pre-Season - Ipswich Town News

Boss Roy Keane says he is happy with the pre-season programme he has arranged for his players. The Town squad reassemble on July 2nd to prepare for their 2009/10 campaign which starts at Coventry's Ricoh Arena on August 8th.

Keane said: "I am very happy with our pre-season schedule. Every player will get his chance to show me what they can do and they will all start from a level playing field.

"They will all get a chance to impress before I select a team for the visit to Coventry.”

Town's first pre-season friendly is at League of Ireland First Division side Finn Harps on July 7th and Keane will field most of his squad in that game, coming as it does only a week after the players' return.

The likes of Gareth McAuley, Jon Walters, David Wright and Ben Thatcher have already been at the club as they recover from the injuries which kept them out of action at the end of the season and many of their team-mates will join them in the days running up to the official start of pre-season.

In addition to the friendly schedule, Keane has said that he is considering sending his squad on courses with the army at Colchester.

Meanwhile, former Blue Scott Mitchell has joined Blue Square North side Corby Town, having ended last season with King's Lynn.
