Nygaard Again Linked - Ipswich Town News

The Danish press continue to link Town with a move for midfielder Marc Nygaard. The midfielder, who currently plays in Holland with JC Roda Kerkrade, is in dispute with his club, however they are reported to have dropped their asking price from £10 million to £4 million and are talking to an unnamed Premiership club. Town are the name being touted.

Nygaard's agent Emile Miedema said of the row with Roda, which has looked destined for the courts: "We have still not reached an agreement. In fact, until today, it was still open war, but after the meeting today it's possible that we don't need to go to court anymore."

Miedema also confirmed that he is in negotiation with a Premier League club, although no name was specified.

George Burley denied any interest in the player a week ago, but did catch Nygaard playing the last half an hour of Denmark's game with Malta on Wednesday, although he was playing up front and not in midfield, the area Burley is trying to strengthen. Both Jon Dahl Tomasson and Martin Jorgensen were suggested as the reason for Burley's trip to Copenhagen, but the Town boss has denied any interest in Tomasson while Jorgensen is out of Town's price range at around the £10 million mark.

With George Burley saying a deal is likely to be completed for a midfielder this week expect a number of sources to suggest names, some likely and some very much wide of the mark, over the next few days.
