Bristol City Boss Expects Manchester United Winger to Join Town - Ipswich Town News
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson says he expects Manchester United winger Lee Martin to join the Blues this summer. Johnson admits targeting the 22-year-old early in the close season, but says he has long given up the chase.
Johnson said: "The player has been away on holiday but we did have discussions with his representatives.
"He's very close with Roy Keane and I think he'll end up with him. There was interest initially from us, but we pulled out very early."
Martin is out of contract at Old Trafford and has also been linked with League One Leeds United. The left-sided midfielder has been mentioned in connection with Town since mid-May.
Meanwhile, former Blue Thomas Gaardsøe has made a return to football with Danish side AaB Aalborg, the club he was with before he signed for Town. The 29-year-old central defender retired in 2006 due to a persistent groin injury while with West Brom, but now feels he can resume his playing career.
