Sunderland Striker Murphy's Hull Move Breaks Down - Ipswich Town News
Hull City have announced that they have ended their interest in Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy after failing to agree terms with the Town target. Murphy turned down the chance to join the Blues last weekend after Hull made a late move for him.
A statement on the Hull website reads: "The Tigers have withdrawn their interest in Sunderland's Daryl Murphy after negotiations over personal terms broke down.â€Â
Last week Town agreed a £5 million deal with Sunderland for Murphy and midfielder Dean Whitehead. The Irish striker had got as far as having a medical with the Blues before Hull made their approach. The Tigers and the Black Cats had agreed a fee of £1.5 million rising to £2.5 million based on appearances.
Whether Town will renew their interest in the former Waterford man remains to be seen. Whitehead is believed to be close to joining Stoke City.
