Academy at Galway Cup - Ipswich Town News
An U15 Town side starts its campaign at the Umbro Galway Cup later today. The young Blues will face Leicester City, Aberdeen and Irish sides St Joseph's Boys and Galway DL in the group stages.
Town usually include several Irish trialists in their squad and won the U15 category in 2007. Last season they reached the semi-finals and midfielder or striker Josh Carson (pictured), who joined the academy as a full-time scholar this summer, was named the Player of the Tournament.
The competition is played at The Drom, home of Salthill Devon, the club where Alan Lee’s father Harry is a striking legend.
Town’s youngsters take on Leicester City in their opening game this afternoon.
