Colback Out to Make His Mark With Town - Ipswich Town News

New loan signing Jack Colback says joining the Blues on loan is the next step in his career progression. The 19-year-old, who will be with Town until January, was a regular in Sunderland’s reserves last season and now aims to make his mark for the Blues in the Championship.

The England U20 international told the club site: I went to see Steve Bruce about going out on loan and he mentioned Ipswich. It's a massive club and obviously I know about the manager here, Roy Keane, from his time at Sunderland. I was in the youth team when he was at the club, but I trained with the first team under him and played in a few friendlies.

"I know what he wants from his players and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to work with him again. It's a great chance for me to push my career on. I played a lot of reserve team football last season and going out on loan to a Championship club seemed the next step to make.

"Joining until January gives me a chance to settle down as well. It gives me the opportunity to hopefully make my mark here.

"I know there are some really good players here, so there is going to be plenty of competition for places, but I'm ready for it. I'm here to play first team football and do well for Ipswich."

The central midfielder arrived at Portman Road today and trained with his new team-mates. Earlier this morning, manager Roy Keane confirmed that Colback will be in contention for a role at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday.
