Town Make Statement - Ipswich Town News

Within the last few minutes Town have released a joint statement from David Sheepshanks and George Burley in the wake of Hassan Kachloul's decision to join Aston Villa.

Sheepshanks and Burley are naturally unhappy at the turn of events. The statement reads: "At 2.00 pm today we received a telephone message informing us that Hassan Kachloul has decided to break his verbal agreement to join Ipswich Town

Football Club after personally pledging his future to us."

"This news has come as a big shock as we trusted the word of Hassan and his agent as being their bond. The player committed his future to this club on his own website, expressing in detail why he had decided to join us. It was only after the player broke the news of our agreement on his website that we agreed with his agent to announce the move, notwithstanding the fact that he was abroad on holiday and wasn't due to come to Ipswich until this coming Thursday to complete the formalities."

"This club has shown great trust in Hassan Kachloul but unfortunately this has not been reciprocated. At the end of the day it is a huge

disappointment for us but we must keep it in perspective, we have a very strong and united squad who are looking forward to competing in Europe. We will continue to look to strengthen from a healthy and stable platform."

"Ipswich Town is built on solid foundations where honour, integrity are fundamental to our future success."

George Burley's search for an attacking midfielder goes on...
