Town are widely tipped to be ready to make a move for Dundee United midfielder Morgaro Gomis by this morning’s papers, but manager Roy Keane is quoted as saying that the Blues have made all their incoming transfers for this window.
Keane said: "Our bit of business is done in the transfer market. I'm fairly happy with the squad. I'm disappointed with the goals we gave away [at Coventry], but that is not just down to defenders, particularly the second goal. Two of our midfielders had the chanced to clear the ball.”
Gomis was first linked with the Blues in May and then again over the weekend and a large number of newspapers both in Scotland and south of the border claim Town are ready to make a move for a fee somewhere in the region of £800,000 to £1 million.
Keane’s comments suggest that the renewed attempt to sign Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy has broken down and that there was little in Dutch reports linking Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
They may not rule out loan moves and the Town boss said at the end of last week that he had spoken to a number of Premier League managers, including Tottenham’s Harry Redknapp, regarding the possibility of bringing players to Portman Road on a temporary basis.
Keane has also said that he expects more members of his current squad to leave before the transfer window closes on August 31st.
