Rhodes On Target Again - Ipswich Town News

Former striker Jordan Rhodes continued his impressive start to his Huddersfield career with two goals as the Terriers beat Southampton 3-1 at the Galpharm Stadium. Only former Blue Kelvin Davis prevented a rout, making a number of fine saves.

Rhodes, who joined Huddersfield in a deal which could ultimately be worth £850,000 to the Blues, has now scored five goals from his first three games for his new club, one of those from the bench.

Meanwhile, Town’s one on-loan player, striker Kevin Lisbie, failed to net as top-of-the-table Colchester beat Yeovil 2-1. Ex-Blue Dean Bowditch missed out for the Glovers due to the shoulder injury he suffered last week and which will keep him out of action for four months.

Another former Town frontman, Richard Logan, scored for Exeter as the Grecians drew 1-1 with Norwich City and Darren Bent netted after five minutes of his Sunderland debut as the Black Cats won 1-0 at Bolton.

Sam Parkin scored his first goal for new club Walsall from the spot to claim a last minute 2-2 home draw against Southend and former loanee Mark Noble netted for West Ham as the Hammers won 2-1 at Wolves.

Elsewhere, Wolves are said to be chasing Bohemians pair Brian Murphy and Gary Deegan. As TWTD was first to reveal on Thursday, Murphy is set to sign a pre-contract agreement with the Blues, while manager Roy Keane confirmed that Deegan is a potential target on Friday.

Town tasted defeat at the Racecourse Ground for the second time in eight days as they were defeated 5-3 by Wrexham having been 3-2 in front. The Blues went behind twice in the first half to goals from ex-Blues striker Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass, but Anis Mehmeti and Ivan Azon levelled to make the scoreline 2-2 at half-time. Cedric Kipre smashed a brilliant strike to make it 3-2 soon after the break but George Thomason, Callum Doyle and ex-Town forward Nathan Broadhead netted without reply to take the points for the Red Dragons.
