Former Blue Snell Dies - Ipswich Town News
Former Blues half-back Vic Snell has died at the age of 81 after a long illness. Snell played for Town between 1945 to 1963 and coached the club’s A team during his last two years at Portman Road.
Snell joined the club as an amateur from local club Nicholians, turning professional two years later.
Having made 62 appearances for the Blues, scoring two goals, Samford-born Snell moved on to South Africa, then Zimbabwe, returning to England in 1999.
Snell was a member of the 1956/57 Third Division South championship-winning side, but failed to make an appearance in the 1953/54 season when Town won the same division or in the 1960/61 and 1961/62 seasons when the Blues won the Second and First Divisions in successive years.
