Wickham Withdrawn From England Squad - Ipswich Town News

Town have withdrawn striker Connor Wickham from the England U17 squad playing a friendly tournament in the Midlands this week. The 16-year-old was due to be in action in games against Italy, Portugal and Turkey, which would have seen him miss the Blues' Carling Cup tie against Peterborough and the league match with Preston.

The move comes as no surprise with Wickham having been involved in all Town’s first team games so far this season. Last season, the Blues withdrew the frontman from the England U16 squad so he could make his senior debut as a sub in the game against Doncaster Rovers.

Wickham, who already has four caps at U17 level, has been replaced in the England squad by Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion.
