Edwards Looking Forward to Being Reunited With Keane - Ipswich Town News

New Town signing Carlos Edwards says he is looking forward to working with Town manager Roy Keane once again having completed his move to Portman Road yesterday. Edwards is currently away on international duty with Trinidad and Tobago.

The 30-year-old says he enjoyed himself at the Stadium of Light but thought he had reached a stage where he had to move on: "It was short and sharp. I had two-and-a-half nice years at Sunderland, and sometimes, good things have got to come to an end.

"For me, I felt my career had to keep on going, and the talks were ongoing a couple days before I signed the contract. So I've signed for two years with the option of a third and am just looking forward to the new challenge and meeting up with my old manager once more.

"I'm delighted with the new move. Obviously, the manager at Sunderland made it clear that I was getting on in age. I needed to look after myself and fortunately, I did that. It's a new chapter in my career that I'm looking forward to."

Edwards, who cost the Blues a fee which will eventually rise to £1.35 million, is likely to win his 75th and 76th full caps when Trinidad and Tobago play Honduras and the US in World Cup qualifiers on Saturday and Wednesday of next week.
