Burley on Hadji - Ipswich Town News

Town boss George Burley has reacted to reports that he may be about to bid for Coventry's Mustapha Hadji. The papers yesterday suggested that Town would try to nab Hadji before he moved to Aston Villa, with James Scowcroft going to Coventry in the deal.

Burley said: "We have not made any offers for Hadji, but he's a good player."

Not a firm denial, but at least an indication that nothing has happened up to now.

Tony Mowbray has confirmed that he has hung up his boots. Mowbray has signed a new two-year deal as Town coach and his number five shirt is now up for grabs.

Titus Bramble looks most likely to get that after his excellent season last year. Mowbray's last performance was the play-off final at Wembley when he scored Town's first goal.

Mich D'Avray has been appointed head coach at Perth Glory. The former Town striker was previously assistant to Bernd Stange who has left to coach Oman.

Glory chairman Nick Tana said: "Mich's coaching credentials are excellent having been promoted up the ranks from coaching in the South African National League to South African U23 national team prior to his appointment as Perth Glory assistant coach, a position which he has had for three years."
