Murray First into Midweek International Action - Ipswich Town News

Academy striker Ronan Murray will be the first Town player to get into midweek international action this evening when the Republic of Ireland U19s take on Portugal in their final game at the Clarion Hotels Four Nations Tournament in Dublin. The hosts could win the competition depending on the results of today’s games.

Ireland drew their opening fixture with Holland and beat Turkey with Murray starting the first match and coming on as a sub in the second. The Dutch and the Turks also play one another today.

If he plays tonight, Murray will win his seventh U19 cap and has so far scored one goal at that level.

On Wednesday, Owen Garvan is also on Republic of Ireland action with the U21 squad, while Gareth McAuley, Tamás Priskin and Carlos Edwards could all play for their full international sides.

Garvan’s U21s play a European Championship qualifier in Tallinn against Estonia, while McAuley’s Northern Ireland take on Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier at Windsor Park, Belfast (Sky Sports 3, 7.30pm).

Priskin’s Hungarians face Portugal in Budapest and Edwards’s Trinidad and Tobago are up against the US in Port Of Spain, also in World Cup qualifiers.
