McAuley Told He Can Leave - Ipswich Town News

Central defender Gareth McAuley has confirmed that Town have made him available for transfer. The Northern Irish international has had a difficult start to the season and was red-carded during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

The 29-year-old, who was recently stripped of the captaincy, says he has been told to find a new club: "My agent got a call from the chairman who said if a club could be found for me then to go ahead.”

McAuley, who was recently linked with Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, joined the Blues last summer for £1.1 million from Leicester having been chased by former manager Jim Magilton since the previous transfer window.
