Midfielder Alan Quinn has dismissed the recent report which claimed that he was amongst the players Roy Keane had told he were unlikely to play for the club again. The story appeared on the day of the Peterborough Carling Cup tie, which the former Sheffield Wednesday and United man started.
Quinn said: "I know the boss would not go behind my back. I was in the starting line-up at Peterborough the day that story came out and it didn't add up.
"The manager saw me and said that he did not name names to the press and he would tell me face to face if he had a problem with me. And I know he would, having seen him do it to others.
"I want to play for this club, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I did enough against Forest to keep my place in the side for the league game at Doncaster on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, loanee Jack Colback says he would like to stay with the club beyond his current spell which is up at the turn of the year: "It's still early days, but if it goes well for me here and the gaffer wanted me to stay, then I'd be happy to spend the year here.
"We will have to wait and see how things work out over the next few months. I certainly want to play first team football and I'd rather stay here then go back to Sunderland and play in the reserves - if that is what the gaffer wants.
"Coming to Ipswich gives me a chance to play first team football and that is what I need at this stage of my career, that's what I need to progress as a player.
"I have played a few games now and feel that I am imposing myself a bit more on the team, but the results are the main thing and they have not gone as well as we would have liked. The signs are there though that things will change around very quickly."
