Newcastle Still Working on Harewood Signing - Ipswich Town News

Newcastle United caretaker-manager Chris Hughton says he expects to hear today whether former Town loanee Marlon Harewood will join his club on loan from Aston Villa in time to face the Blues at Portman Road on Saturday. Harewood, who is now over an ankle injury, has been a Magpies target for some weeks.

Hughton said: "Marlon is one we're working on. Whether or not that can be done before Saturday we will find out today."

Another former Town loanee, Danny Simpson, is rated as "touch and go” for Saturday’s match due to an ankle problem.

Argentinian centre-half Fabricio Coloccini is fit again after missing the Carling Cup defeat at Peterborough on Tuesday, but Hungarian defender Tamás Kadar misses a potential battle with fellow countryman Tamás Priskin due to a groin strain.

Jonas Gutierrez (hamstring) and Shola Ameobi (foot), who came close to joining the Blues a year ago but failed a medical, are also definitely out through injury, while Danny Guthrie is suspended having been red-carded at Peterborough in midweek.
