Garvan Skippers Irish U21s to Draw - Ipswich Town News

Town’s Owen Garvan skippered the Republic of Ireland U21s and played the full 90 minutes as his side drew 1-1 with Georgia in a European U21 Championships qualifier in Dublin last night. Garvan was winning his 12th cap at U21 level.

Georgia’s Giorgi Ivanishvili netted a minute from time to deny the Irish their first win of the campaign, Blackburn’s Alan Judge having put the home side in front in the first half. The Irish U21s face Switzerland in Waterford on Tuesday.

Later today, Carlos Edwards and Tamás Priskin could add to their haul of international caps. Priskin’s Hungarians, who have a slim chance of qualification for the World Cup, face Portugal today and Denmark on Wednesday. The striker has previously won 21 caps, scoring eight goals.

Edwards’s Trinidad and Tobago have no chance of qualification and complete their fixtures with games against Costa Rica today and Mexico on Wednesday. The midfielder has previously won 76 full international caps and has scored four goals.

Gareth McAuley’s Northern Ireland side are without a game over the weekend but face a World Cup qualifier in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, a match they have to win to stand any chance of reaching South Africa. The central defender has previously won 19 caps and has scored one international goal.

England’s game in Ukraine is not being shown on live TV but is available online for free on Bet365, full details on their site, or for £11.99 here.
