Keane: Push Wright for His Place - Ipswich Town News
Boss Roy Keane says he wants new loan signing Asmir Begovic to fight Richard Wright for his place in the first team. The Bosnian international has joined the Blues on a three-month loan.
Keane told the club site: "With Shane Supple retiring, it left us a bit light. Although we brought Arran [Lee-Barrett] in, I've always liked three keepers in my squad to maintain the competition and Asmir comes here to push for a first team place.
"I spoke to the Portsmouth manager Paul Hart about him and a few other people and they have been very positive, but most importantly for me I spoke to the lad himself and he was very keen to come here and wants to play games, and that was a good plus for me."
Lee-Barrett, who is yet to make a first team appearance for the Blues, is on a short-term contract until January, while Bohemians keeper Brian Murphy is set to join Town on a Bosman at the end of the Irish season in November.
