Walters to Keep Armband? - Ipswich Town News
Boss Roy Keane says he is undecided who will captain the Blues if Alex Bruce returns to the side when Town take on Watford at Portman Road on Tuesday. Jon Walters has worn the armband during Bruce’s recent absence due to a groin injury.
Keane said: "I’ll have a look at it. It’s not something I’ve thought too much about.
”I talked to Alex at the start of the season and said we’d see how it pans out. Obviously Alex has missed the last few games because of his groin injury and I think Jon Walters has enjoyed it, so that’s a decision for me to make if Alex gets back in the starting 11.
"I think Jon’s led the team well, and I think Gareth has enjoyed the fact that he can just focus on his game. You’d like two or three captains in your team.
"As a striker Jon doesn't play in the best position to be a skipper but he leads by example in the way he trains and plays the game."
Town have no new injuries after Saturday’s draw against Swansea but midfielder Carlos Edwards will come back into Keane’s plans after being rested on Saturday. Asmir Begovic will continue in goal.
