Boss Roy Keane has praised supporters for showing patience with his team, despite the Blues having gone 13 games without a victory. The Town support applauded the side off on Tuesday after Nathan Ellington’s 93rd minute goal prevented that first win of the season coming against Watford.
Keane says he doubts if they would have received a similar reaction anywhere else: "At any other club on this planet it probably wouldn’t happen. I feel very lucky I have to say.
"After 13 games without a victory, it’s strange that the players are getting applauded off the pitch but that’s a credit to the supporters, they appreciate the players’ efforts.
"I think from the other night they appreciated how well the players are playing. The signs have been a bit better the last few weeks but, of course, we need victories.
The Town manager is confident that that win will come soon: "We need to stay focused and get that victory and hopefully that will come at Plymouth.
"We all appreciate the support we’re getting from the fans, they’ve shown a good side to them, particularly the other night, but I think supporters just want to see their players giving 100% and they can see that here.”
Keane says there is no problem with the spirit inside the camp: "The players are sticking together. It was another kick in the teeth the other night but you just get on with it, clear our heads and get ready for another challenge.
"I’m not enjoying where we are and I don’t think anyone at the club has ever been on a run like this, players at their previous clubs included.
"As much as we’re disappointed, we’ve no one to blame but ourselves. If someone gives me the chances we created against Swansea and against Watford and we don’t take them against Plymouth, then we’ll suffer for it.”
