Town are one of a number of clubs claimed to have been chasing out-of-favour Birmingham winger Gary McSheffrey. The Blues, Sheffield United and Coventry are all said to have made enquiries but the 27-year-old is keen to stay at St Andrew’s and fight for his place.
McSheffrey said: "I want to play more but it's a better situation than I was in back in August when they were looking to offload me.
"I still feel I have a lot to offer. It's getting that chance. Things can change so I'm sure if I started doing the business then maybe I wouldn't be up for sale.
"I haven't had a chat with the manager, I've just put my head down and worked hard."
Elsewhere, the Portuguese press is again linking Town with Benfica central defender Miguel VÃtor. The Blues, Sunderland and Hull City are all said to want to take the Portugal U21 international on loan in January, although they face opposition from Atletico Madrid. Portsmouth and Birmingham were also previously linked.
Meanwhile, the News of the World’s website claims "dressing room sources” have slammed Roy Keane’s management of the club.
