Keane: Further Moves Possible Before Deadline - Ipswich Town News

Boss Roy Keane says there could be further moves in and out of the club before next Thursday’s emergency loan deadline. Earlier today, central defender Pim Balkestein joined Brentford on a month’s loan.

Keane said: "We're in discussions with one or two clubs about one or two of our players and I'll maybe look at that in the next day or so and maybe bring in one or two ourselves. We'll see what happens over the next few days.”

The Blues boss says he has heard nothing from any club regarding Connor Wickham and Owen Garvan, despite plenty of speculation in recent days: ”I’ve had no calls about those players, so I think you’ve got the right word there — speculation.”

Garvan could even return to the Town squad for Saturday's home game with Sheffield Wednesday, Keane having been impressed with his performance in the reserves at Luton: "He's getting games under his belt, he was away with Ireland's U21s and played in the reserves, so I've no worries about his core fitness.

"He's trained with us for the last few days and as usual I know the qualities Owen has and sometimes I think we might need something different. He did himself no harm by playing well in the reserves the other day."

Keane also dismissed reports of interest in Hearts left-back Lee Wallace as "speculation” and said he knew nothing of a claim that former Blue Kieron Dyer was on his way back to Portman Road.

The Town manager says work to sign Senegalese free agent Ibrahima Faye, also a left-back, continues: "There’s a lot of paperwork to be done on that, but I’ve left it with the club secretary. It’s not dead in the water yet, but it’s going to be hard work.”

Former Troyes defender Faye, 30, recently impressed in a trial, playing in the reserve game against Norwich.
