McParland Joins Coaching Staff - Ipswich Town News
Town have added former Notts County manager Ian McParland to their coaching staff. McParland left the Magpies last month after two years as boss.
Boss Roy Keane has been looking to add another coach to his staff for some while with Peter Taylor recently coming close to being offered a position.
Keane says McParland, known as Charlie, initially came to his attention on a coaching course: "I met Charlie first when I was on my Pro Licence and he’s a good man, which is important. He’s got his qualifications like a lot of coaches and I was keen on bringing a new face and new voice into the training ground.
"He’s somebody I believe I can trust and he’ll be working with the first team, very much hands on, and will be involved for the weekend.”
Former striker McParland, 48, played for Notts County, Hull City, Walsall, Dunfermline, Lincoln, Northampton, Chinese clubs Instant-Dict and Eastern AA, and Hamilton and Berwick in his native Scotland.
Prior to his spell as boss at Notts County, he was a coach at Keane's former club Nottingham Forest for 10 years.
