Town chairman David Sheepshanks has re-iterated that there are no plans for Town to enter the stock market. As Town have developed over the last few years the question has often been put the the chairman, but despite regularly speaking about the issue the directors have no current plans to take the club in this direction.
Sheepshanks said: "There is a very clear dilemma for those clubs that are public. They are technically, and practically in many instances, required to deliver improved profits at a time that may not be right for the football club. Of course it's right to run a business to produce profits, but in the case of a football club you may wish to invenst in more players or more overheads."
Sheepshanks feels that Town's five-year plan could have been compromised had the club been publicly owned. However, he isn't ruling it out in the future: "I'm not saying Ipswich Town will never be a public quoted company. There may well come a time when it's not possible to operate otherwise, but it's not right for us now. Indeed when you look at football clubs who have gone public, most of their prices are on the floor."
Former Town star Kieron Dyer was banned from driving for two months and fined £1000 yesterday. Dyer said he was listening to Tiger Woods winning the US Masters on the radio and lost concentration.
Afterwards the Newcastle player said: "What can I say? I'm a Tiger Woods fan!"
Reserve defender Stephen Moffat is having a trial with Motherwell after being released by Town. Moffat is joined there by recent Town trialist Stephen Cosgrove.
Cosgrove played two reserve games while on trial from Manchester United earlier this year.
