Former Town striker Danny Haynes says he expects to get a good reception from his old fans when the Blues travel to face his new club Bristol City on Saturday. Haynes joined the Robins in the summer in a £400,000 move.
The 21-year-old frontman says he bears no ill-will towards Town or their supporters: "I had a good relationship with the Ipswich fans and I'd like to think I'll get a good reception.
"I have nothing but good memories of my time at Ipswich and I made a lot of friends there. I think every player looks forward to meeting his former club and I'm no different.
"Obviously, I'm a Bristol City player now and I want us to take the three points. But at the same time, it will be good to catch up with some of my old team-mates.
"I spent five years at Portman Road and they taught me the game and made me the person I am now.
"I came up from the youth team to the first team and they gave me my big break in the game. I cannot forget that."
Haynes says he didn’t spend long enough working with Roy Keane to make a judgement on his management, although he says he found him fine during their brief spell working together: "Roy Keane only arrived at the end of the season and he wasn't really there long enough before I left for me to get to know him properly.
"But given the little I saw of him, I thought he was OK. I know he has this reputation for ruffling feathers and upsetting people, but I didn't have a problem with him."
Meanwhile, Bristol City boss Gary Johnson says that there’s no rift between him and Keane despite the Town manager telling him he should mind his own business in the summer when both clubs were chasing Lee Martin’s signature from Manchester United: "He didn't need to say what he said, because he had hold of the wrong end of the stick.
"We made an offer for Lee Martin with Sir Alex Ferguson's blessing and everyone knew that. But the lad had worked with Roy Keane at Old Trafford as a young lad, decided he wanted to join Ipswich and that was fair enough.
"I was asked whether Lee was coming here to Bristol City and I said 'no, he's going to Ipswich,' which was totally true.
"But we know Roy likes to chew wasps sometimes and he chose to respond in the manner he did.
"He came out and said it was none of my business when, in fact, it was my business at that time."
Johnson says he expects to meet up with the Blues boss after Saturday’s match: "I'm sure we'll shake hands after the game and, hopefully, he'll agree to come to my office for a drink.
"I don't have any real problem with Roy — I don't know him particularly well and so don't really like or dislike him.”
