Goddard Decides to Go - Ipswich Town News

Paul Goddard has decided to accept the offer of the first team coach's job at West Ham. Town's assistant academy director made what he described as a very difficult decision to become Glenn Roeder's right-hand man at Upton Park.

Goddard said: "I have strong feelings for both clubs. I have been a part of the success story at Ipswich and it is difficult to walk away when you have so much respect for the club and your colleagues. I have enjoyed my role and have got on so well with Bryan Klug, the academy director. We developed a great understanding. But this is a great opportunity for me. It isn't every day that you get the chance to coach a team in the Premiership and there's no denying the fact that it's West Ham was an extra pull. I had seven years as a player at Upton Park and they were very good years, when I learned a lot about the game and how it should be played. It was a super time, when we played some super attacking football, and there's always been a part of me at that club."

Town's 16-year-old signing from York, Chris Hogg, put on an impressive display last night for the England U17s at the JJB Stadium, Wigan. Though the side lost 2-1 to Italy, Hogg was seen as one of the stars of the match.
