Town, Sheffield United, Coventry and Plymouth are all eyeing a loan move for Hull City left winger Peter Halmosi, according to reports in Hungary. The 30-year-old is yet to play for the Tigers in the Premier League this season, but has no plans to leave the KC Stadium permanently in January.
The ex-Plymouth man says a loan switch could be a possibility if he continues to remain on the sidelines at Hull: "Honestly, I don't plan to leave the club in January. A two or three-month loan spell could be a possibility but I would only be keen on deals until the end of the season.
"I would only leave if another club is willing to buy out my contract. The season is very long, but if my situation doesn't change then I might have to leave.
"I haven't spoken to Phil Brown about things like this since I have been here. However, at the beginning of the season we had a conversation and he said that this might be my season. The emphasis appears to be on the words 'might be'."
Former Szombathelyi Haladás and Grazer AK man Halmosi joined Plymouth from Debreceni in his home country in January 2007 initially on loan. A permanent £400,000 deal was sealed the following May. Capped 30 times by Hungary, Halmosi moved on to Hull for £2 million in the summer of 2008, signing a four-year deal.
Town’s most natural left winger Luciano Civelli is continuing his recovery from his knee ligament injury and is still at least a month away from a return. However, Owen Garvan has done well in the left-sided role in recent week and Town are unlikely to sign any more midfielders until one or two leave either on loan or on a permanent basis.
