Four Now in Chase for Scowy! - Ipswich Town News

Reports this afternoon suggest that four clubs are now in the chase to sign James Scowcroft. Leicester, who have already had a bid turned down, West Ham, as mentioned earlier, and now Charlton and Coventry.

Charlton have long been known to be admirers of Scowcroft while Coventry might see Scowcroft as a target should John Hartson decide that he wants Premiership football after all.

Town fitness coach Simon Thadani is enjoying a dual role at the moment as he continues to take pre-season training. Thadani speaks fluent Spanish and is therefore acting as Pablo Couñago's translator.

Coach Tony Mowbray said of Thadani: "Simon is fluent in Spanish and what might have been a problem has been eliminated. Simon is an unsung hero as fitness coach. He is so well organised and goes into such fine detail - and he has also been very, very helpful regarding Pablo."

Gary Croft is to see a specialist regarding a recurring groin problem. The specialist, based in Swindon, has helped Tony Mowbray in the past. Croft will miss the pre-season tour of Finland and Estonia.

Mogga said: "This is something that has been on-going with Gary, although he hasn't missed a day's training since we reported back.We thought it had been cleared up but the problem is still there. The specialist did an exceptional job with me and he will be assessing Gary's situation before deciding what the next step should be."
