Keane Wants to Keep Rosenior - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Roy Keane says the club will look at making right-back Liam Rosenior’s loan from Reading a permanent move. The 25-year-old is on a season-long loan at Portman Road with his Royals contract up in June.

Keane said: "We'll look at that over the next month or two but we obviously have the comfort of knowing he's here until the end of the season.

"To say I'm pleased with Liam would be an understatement, I think he's done really well for us and we're delighted to have him at the club."

Rosenior was replaced late on at Blackpool on Saturday but Keane says the knock isn’t serious: "I don't think it's too bad, it's just a kick and I expect my players to get kicked.

"I look around the dressing room after every game and I'm always worried if I don't see ice-packs on their legs. You should be getting kicked, it's a physical game."

Keane has also confirmed that he will talk to keeper Arran Lee-Barrett regarding new terms with his current deal up on January 21st: "We’ll be speaking to Arran over the next few days. I’ve been delighted with Arran. The boy’s taken his chance, again on Saturday he had a good presence and hopefully we’ll sort something with Arran because he deserves it. He’s done really well for us.”

Meanwhile, new goalkeeper Brian Murphy will officially sign his 18-month contract with the Blues today, joining on a free Bosman transfer from Bohemians.

The beginning of the transfer window is also likely to see several fringe players leave on loan with Roy Keane revealing last week that a number of moves are on the cards: "We’ve got one or two young defenders who we look like we can get out on loan next week. People like Tommy Smith need to go out and get some games and possibly Troy Brown.

"I’ve spoken to one or two managers over the last few days regarding some of our players.”

Midfielders Liam Trotter and Colin Healy are also amongst those set for spells away from Portman Road, with Hartlepool United having confirmed their interest in the Irishman.

Kevin Lisbie is due back from his curtailed season-long loan at Colchester today, while Jack Ainsley has already returned from Rushden and Diamonds with Roy Keane less than impressed that the defender played only 45 minutes in two months at Nene Park.

Pim Balkestein was recalled early from his second month at Brentford last week with David Wright and Damien Delaney both having been doubts for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Blackpool.
