Colchester United boss Aidy Boothroyd has confirmed that Kevin Lisbie will be staying on loan with his club until the end of the season, unless the Blues find a buyer for the 31-year-old. Town boss Roy Keane had previously indicated that he would be recalling Lisbie once the transfer window opened.
Boothroyd said: "I was delighted to get the call from Ipswich to say that Kevin could continue with us.
"The situation is ongoing but he is with us now until the end of the season unless Ipswich tell us otherwise. That's the matter closed as far as I am concerned, until it is open again!”
Town have a 24-hour recall on Lisbie, which is likely to be activated if another club firms up their interest in the former Charlton man. Town boss Keane said recently that a number of other sides had been in contact with him regarding Lisbie’s availability.
Lisbie himself has made it clear that he wants to remain with the U’s, who have admitted that they would struggle to pay the fee to make their leading scorer a permanent addition to their ranks.
