U18s Defeat Southampton - Ipswich Town News
Goals from midfielders Jamie Griffiths and Billy Clark (pictured) saw Town's U18s to a 2-0 victory over Southampton at Playford Road on Saturday morning.
Wideman Griffiths put the Blues in front just before the break with Clark adding the second 10 minutes from time.
The young Blues face Arsenal in their FA Youth Cup fourth round tie at Barnet’s Underhill on Tuesday evening (KO 7pm), having beaten Tranmere 2-0 in the third round. The winners of the game face Fulham at home in the fifth round.
Earlier in the season Town's U18s beat Arsenal 3-2 at Playford Road in a league game and also won a pre-season friendly 1-0 at the Gunners' Shenley Training Centre.
Town's reserves have been drawn away at Bury Town in the semi-finals of the LB Group Suffolk FA Premier Cup. The tie will be played on either March 9th or 10th.
U18s: Ranieri, Bennett, Meekings, Eastman, Dunbar (McKeown 65), Clark, Hyam (Brandon 65), Carson, Griffiths, Lavery, Murray (Cavalho 75). Unused: Winstone, Whight.
