Keane Doesn\'t Rule Out Move for Celtic Defender - Ipswich Town News

Boss Roy Keane has refused to completely rule out a move for Celtic left-back Lee Naylor. The 29-year-old was mentioned in connection with the Blues earlier in the week.

Although dismissing claims of an imminent move, Keane hints that Naylor could potentially come into his plans before the January transfer window closes. Asked whether reports of Naylor’s immediate signing were correct, Keane said: "Not at the moment, no.

"Lee played [for Celtic] last week. I always look at the Celtic team anyway and obviously I would have looked last week particularly because Colin Healy was playing [for Falkirk against Celtic]. There’s nothing in that. But that’s today, next week might be different.”

The Blues boss says there is nothing new to report on the transfer front: ”I’d like to add one or two but I have no news on that.

"We’re hopeful, but our mentality at the moment is that that we won’t be getting anybody in because I don’t want to get too disappointed or give any of our supporters false hope. Something might happen next week, but we’ll wait and see.”

Keane says Southampton interest in Kevin Lisbie, who is currently on loan at Colchester, is news to him but wouldn’t shock him: "Not that I’m aware of but it wouldn’t surprise me if there are clubs speaking to him or his agent, but something will happen with that next week.

"Clubs are aware that he’s at Colchester and that he’s on loan. We have the option to call him back or if a club comes in with the right offer we’ll look at that. We’ll wait and see. I’ve not really thought about it too much, to be honest.”

With Colchester admitting they would be unable to afford a fee to sign Lisbie permanently, the former Charlton man says he would consider a switch to St Mary’s: "Very much so. If they are interested I am only on loan at Colchester, so obviously anything is possible."

"I have not asked to go anywhere. But if you ask any player they would love to be settled at a club that has signed them and to be settled somewhere would be good for me."

The Town manager is still struggling through the red tape which has delayed the signing of American trialist Devann Yao. The 19-year-old winger has played youth football with Metz, Livorno, Pisa and St Mirren and Town are working through issues relating to compensation due to some of those clubs.

Keane says he hopes the deal will be sorted soon: "There’s still no news on that. You should come in my office and see the paperwork. There’s lots of stuff because he’s been involved with lots of clubs.

"He’s back training after the bad injury he got in the reserves game against Luton [a cut to the leg]. That was a nasty injury he got but that’s settling down and he’s back on the training pitch doing some recovery. Hopefully there’ll be news this week.”
