Sheffield Wednesday Watching Pablo - Ipswich Town News

TWTD has learned that Sheffield Wednesday are keeping a close eye on Town striker Pablo Couñago. The Owls were represented at Tuesday’s home game against West Brom with the Spanish striker the subject of their interest.

Wednesday recently appointed former Blues keeper-coach Andy Rhodes to their backroom staff, a man who will know Couñago well from his time working at Portman Road.

The 30-year-old, who is contracted to Town until 2011, has been in and out of Roy Keane’s side this season, making eight starts and nine sub appearances and scoring three goals.

In the summer, the Blues accepted an offer from Swansea for Couñago but the ex-Malaga and Celta Vigo man couldn’t agree personal terms with the Welsh club and he remained at Town.

Meanwhile, Burnley have signed central defender Leon Cort from Stoke for £1.5 million. The ex-Southend man was linked with the Blues and a number of other clubs earlier today.
