Hull City’s Kevin Kilbane opted against a proposed loan move to the Blues in order to help the Tigers avoid relegation, according to reports this morning. Elsewhere, Honduran defender Osman Chávez, linked with Town in the Central American press yesterday, is now said to be joining Newcastle United.
Last week Hull were reported to have turned down Town’s request to take Kilbane on loan for the rest of the season with Blues boss Roy Keane subsequently refusing to comment on the link: "I think it’s so wrong for managers to talk about players at other clubs. We’ve put in enquiries to a number of clubs about different players and we’re getting different feedback and that will continue over the next couple of days.”
Last week’s reports claimed left-back or left midfielder Kilbane was also interesting Celtic and Bolton.
Elsewhere, Honduran newspapers are reporting that Chávez is on his way to England and should be confirmed as a Newcastle United player by the weekend. The defender, who has had trials at a number of UK clubs, was linked with the Blues yesterday.
