Town to Opt Against Stern Stay - Ipswich Town News
Town have opted against extending Crystal Palace striker Stern John’s stay at Portman Road, according to reports in south London. The 33-year-old's loan spell ends after Saturday’s game at Preston.
The Trinidad and Tobago international is in his second month with the Blues and has scored once in seven starts and one sub appearance.
Last week, boss Roy Keane said he would look at resolving John's future early this week: "We want to be fair to Palace and to Stern so won't let it go to the very last day of January.
"With Stern’s situation, because we had him [for a month] previously, if we’re going to take him it would have to be for the rest of the season.”
John has said he would like to remain with the Blues on a number of occasions since joining the club in late November.
Meanwhile, former loanee Moritz Volz is reported to be training with QPR, having been unsuccessful in trials with Schalke 04 and Hertha Berlin back in his native Germany.
Another ex-Town loanee, Portsmouth keeper Asmir Begovic, is reportedly the subject of an approach from Tottenham Hotspur.
