Sela on Town Trial - Ipswich Town News

Trialist keeper Jonas Sela says he left England to return to his club SpVgg Weiden in Germany on Wednesday with no decision having been made whether he will join the Blues. The 26-year-old spent a week at Playford Road, his second spell with the club.

Sela says he met with manager Roy Keane before going home but that he gave no indication whether he would take him on, with any potential move more likely at the end of the season rather than before the closure of the transfer window on Monday: "No decision has been made yet whether I'll go to England in the summer.”

The former FSV Mainz 05 keeper says he enjoyed his time with the Blues and was particularly impressed with the training facilities at Playford Road and groundsman Alan Ferguson’s pitches: "It was a very great experience.

"There was no snow, and all eleven pitches could be used and were in a good condition. It was like being on a golf course.”

Sela says goalkeeper-coach James Hollman was impressed with his displays in training: "Hollman told me that I can hold my own without problems in the Championship on the basis of my performances. This gives confidence for the remaining second half of the season with SpVgg Weiden. "

Earlier today, manager Roy Keane confirmed that Sela had spent the week with the Blues but said that he was just one of a number of keepers who have been on trial and that Hollman would be given the responsibility of judging any potential new glovesmen.

Town are on the lookout for an additional keeper with Richard Wright out for at least a month more with his knee ligament injury and Brian Murphy still sidelined with his ankle problem.
