Boss Roy Keane says he missed out on one of his targets when the transfer window closed on Monday. The Irishman says he will continue to look for additions to his squad on loan once the emergency window opens next week.
Keane told the club site: "We tried for one more signing on deadline day. We were close but it didn't quite happen for us.
"It's about getting the balance of the squad right and I think there is one area that we really need to strengthen.
"We will keep looking and when the loan window opens again, we will have another look. I'd like to bring in another one or two more if we can.
"They need to be players who want to come and play at this football club though. If they are not sure they want to come when we talk to them then it won't happen."
Left-back and, since Alex Bruce’s departure on loan, the right side of central defence appear to be the areas of the side most in need of strengthening, while Keane may look at bringing in another keeper with Brian Murphy on his way back from an ankle problem and Richard Wright out for at least the next month with his knee injury.
Elsewhere, former Town striker Antonio Murray has joined Cambridge United from Chelmsford City, while ex-academy midfielder Ian Nimmo has switched from Brechin to Arbroath.
