Keane: Nothing Imminent on Loan Signings - Ipswich Town News

Town manager Roy Keane says no new loan additions are close to being added to his squad and no one is on the verge of leaving for pastures new. Last week the Blues boss revealed that he was looking for cover in a couple of areas — probably a left-back and a right-sided centre-half — and had received interest in some of his players from elsewhere.

Keane says there have been no developments over the weekend: ”Not at the moment. We’ve had enough to focus on over the last week, I got the two lads in and we had the games coming up.

"I’ve not thought too much about it. There are one or two positions that I keep saying I’d like to strengthen, but we’re not going to panic over the next week or two.

"If we can get a player who can improve us, fantastic, but I’m not going to bring in a player who is going to be the same as what we’ve got, there’s no point because I want to be fair to the players here.

"There are good lads who have been training well here and they might get their chance over the next week or two.”

Similarly, no one has yet called back regarding last week’s contact about members of Keane’s squad: "If people follow up their initial calls this week remains to be seen. It all depends what happens at clubs in terms of injuries or suspensions.

"There’s always interest in the younger players, we get phone calls on a regular basis about the young lads. But if we send them out we’re not going to be dismissive of them and send them just anywhere. We want to be careful where we send them.

"But the calls last week were about some of our senior players. Our squad’s not that big at the moment, so we have to be very, very careful. It depends if I can bring one or two in, which is certainly not close at the moment.”

Midfielder Lee Martin is out of Tuesday’s game at QPR with a hamstring injury, but there are no new injuries, aside from a few knocks which won’t keep anyone out of the trip to Loftus Road.

Skipper Jon Walters came through Saturday’s game unscathed after his surprise return from his hamstring problem.
