Stead: I Should Have Scored More - Ipswich Town News

On-loan striker Jon Stead says he would have liked to have scored more than six goals for the Blues this season. Stead yesterday joined Coventry until May with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

The 26-year-old said: "Coventry City is a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting some games, doing well and helping in any way I can for the final push of the season.

"Six goals this season is probably not as many as I would have liked but I think I’ve started probably double that [number of matches] anyway, so you always look at your ratio.

"I’ve been in and out of the Ipswich team this season which has been disappointing for me but I know coming here that to play it will not just be a case of turning up and walking into the side.

"I’m aware it is something that will have to be earned because the club already have some very good strikers.

"It’s a huge confidence boost for me that a club looking to go places looks to me to help them on their way.

"Everything at this club has the make up to go places and I’m glad that I am seen as part of that, even if it is for the short term.”
