Trio in Northern Ireland Squad for Friendlies - Ipswich Town News
Academy trio Rory McKeown, Josh Carson (pictured) and Cormac Burke have been named in the Northern Ireland U17 squad for two friendlies with Norway in Ballymoney next week. The Northern Irish youngsters face the Norwegians on Tuesday and Thursday in games arranged as preparation for their UEFA European U17 Championship elite round mini-tournament in March.
The trio took part in a 22-man training camp in Manchester last week and did enough to seal their places in the 18-man squad for the friendlies.
Northern Ireland are hosting the UEFA European U17 Championship elite round mini-tournament from March 17th-22nd when they face Belgium, Spain and Poland.
Left-back McKeown and midfielder Carson joined the academy as scholars last summer, while Burke will be full-time at Playford Road from next season. All three have previously won five U17 caps.
