Keane Weighing Up Loan Enquiry - Ipswich Town News

Boss Roy Keane says he is weighing up a loan enquiry regarding an unnamed member of his squad. The Town manager is considering the offer but doesn’t want to weaken his squad as the Blues go into a spell of seven games in 22 days.

Keane said: "I had an enquiry yesterday for a player but I’m not sure. We’ve got a lot of games coming up and I think we’ll need all the players.”

The Blues boss says the busy period could also see him add further numbers to his squad: "We’ve had good feedback from one or two people if that’s something we want to take up.

"But generally speaking our numbers haven’t been too bad and we’ll look at it over the next week or two because there are a lot of games coming up.

"We know there are options out there and we’ll have a look at it depending on our next few games and the fitness levels of the players.”

Keane confirmed that Trinidadian international Kerry Baptiste has been asked to return for a second trial, having flown home on Tuesday after a week training at Playford Road: "The timing wasn’t great because he couldn’t play in a reserve match, but I spoke to him and we’re hoping that he’ll come back in a month or two to play in a game.

"The boy didn’t do himself any harm. He’s a nice kid, he trained really well, looks a talented boy and we’re keen to bring him back.”

The Town manager says Gareth McAuley, Damien Delaney and David Wright will train today and are likely to be fit for Saturday’s game at Blackpool despite having picked up niggles over the last week, while the Blues boss says midfielders Lee Martin and Alan Quinn will come into his thoughts after impressing in the reserves.

Keane is yet to see David Healy and Owen Garvan to assess their fitness after their weekend involvement with Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland’s U21s respectively.
