Former Town loanee Danny Karbassiyoon has revealed that he’s writing a book about his experiences in English football. The American, made four starts and two sub appearances for the Blues during a four-month spell on loan from Arsenal from late 2004 into 2005, was forced to retire from the game due to a knee injury aged 22 in 2007.
Karbassiyoon, who these days is a scout for the Gunners back in the US, feels he has a different take on life in the British game: "You read leading players’ books and it’s wonderful to read of rises from poverty to riches, but I was a middle class American kid just trying to make it as a footballer.
"I never achieved the wealth that people might think every soccer player amasses when they start out for Arsenal or Manchester United.
"I’d like to educate people, around the world but especially Americans, on the daily basis of being a pro, and the hardships and great feelings alike that you get when representing clubs like the three I did — Arsenal, Burnley and Ipswich Town. It’s coming along well, and hopefully I’ll have some news about its completion fairly soon.”
