Finidi Talks Continue - Ipswich Town News

Reports this afternoon suggest that Town could be facing competition for the signature of Finidi George. Town are continuing negotiations with Finidi's representatives, but at least one other club is thought to be interested.

Reports in Spain have claimed that Atletico Madrid might be interested in him. The man who brought Finidi to Mallorca, Luis Aragones, is coach there, but a move to the Spanish Second Division side looks unlikely.

The Spanish papers have also claimed that Italians Parma have had an offer for the Nigerian accepted by Mallorca.

Whatever is happening elsewhere Town's discussions are still on-going with the player's representatives, George Burley: "Talks are continuing. We’ll see how it goes and hopefully we can reach a satisfactory conclusion. It may take a few days, but we should know one way or the other by the end of the week."

A couple of players are nursing injuries after the pre-season tour of Finland and Estonia. James Scowcroft has a tight hamstring, while Tommy Miller has a sore groin.

Alun Armstrong felt some soreness in his back, but none of the injuries is thought to be too serious.

Jim Magilton and Gary Croft both missed the tour. Magilton had a hamstring problem while Croft is to undergo an operation on his groin.
