Boss Roy Keane says he learnt a lot about his players during the 2-1 defeat at Watford on Tuesday. The Town manager kept his squad locked in the dressing room for 90 minutes after a performance he described as “unbelievable”.
Keane said: "I certainly learnt so much about the players the other night it was untrue.”
The Blues boss was clearly very unimpressed with his side’s display at Vicarage Road but says a bit of anger isn’t always necessarily a bad thing: "Anger’s good. It’s good to get angry. It’s an emotion, it’s part of the game. If people upset you and you don’t get angry, then I think you’re in the wrong game.
"I think sometimes it’s good to go a bit mad. I don’t throw teacups, I think I’d rather throw punches!
"Obviously, I appreciate those days are gone, you can’t be going around assaulting people, but I can understand managers’ frustrations when they fall out with players.”
Meanwhile, former Town loanee Jon Macken, who will be back at Portman Road with Barnsley on Saturday, has told the club site that Town are moving in the right direction: "I still believe Ipswich are on the way up.
"Their problem has clearly been all these games drawn, which is a lot of points to give away. Yes, they lost in the week to Watford, but their record before that hasn't been too bad at all. I'm expecting a tough game, as it always is when you come to Portman Road.
"I loved my time at Ipswich and have nothing but good things to say about the club. Ipswich have been down at this level for a number of years now without always getting the rewards.
"I hope they do eventually turn things around and push for the Premier League because a club of their stature, with the fans they have, deserve success."
