Reserves Win at Stevenage - Ipswich Town News

Goals from Reggie Lambe and Ed Upson gave Town’s reserves a 2-1 victory over Stevenage Borough at Broadhall Way on Wednesday evening.

Town defender Jack Ainsley came closest to a goal in a first half interrupted by injuries to players from the home side when his shot from distance struck the top of the cross bar.

Reggie Lambe, who netted a hat-trick in the home game against Boro earlier in the season, opened the scoring in the 58th minute when he finished from close range after good work from Ronan Murray and Ed Upson.

The home side got back on terms two minutes later after a slip from Tom Eastman allowed Lee Boylan in to score.

Former Stevenage loanee Ed Upson, who is currently on loan with Barnet but is yet to be involved for the Bees, won the game for Town in the 76th minute with a long range effort which came off the wet surface and beat the keeper.

Town just about deserved to win a largely scrappy game against a more experienced Stevenage line-up including former Blues trialist Lawrie Wilson.

Brentford target Pim Balkestein was the Blues’ most impressive performer, while young midfielder Luke Hyam also did well. Aside from the error for the goal, central defender Tom Eastman put in another good display.

Reserves: Lee-Barrett, Brown, Eastman, Balkestein, Ainsley, Hyam, Brandon (Clark 70), Upson, Griffiths (Dunbar 60), Murray (Lavery 86), Lambe. Subs: McLoughlin, Yao.
