Scowy Talks Continue - Ipswich Town News

James Scowcroft is due to be in Leicester tomorrow to continue talks with Peter Taylor. Earlier there were reports of a hitch but this now seems to have been overcome.

Leicester City say that Scowcroft will continue talks tomorrow after the hitch, an issue between the two clubs, was solved.

Taylor said: "We are very close to finally tying up the deal and I'm hopeful that it can be all sorted out by tomorrow. The two chairmen of both clubs had talks today, which have been difficult because the Ipswich chairman is in Barbados [actually Australia]. But, apart from a few small alterations, we've got the deal we want. I'm positive that James will prove a superb signing for Leicester City."

George Burley said of the hitch: "Everything is now sorted out between both clubs. It just leaves James to have his medical and agree his terms with Leicester City."

Scowcroft might make his debut against Norwich on Saturday, although this looks less likely: "If something was sorted out it would be ironic that Norwich would be the first team I play. But, at this time, I can't see things being completed by then."

Town are thought to be receiving a fee of around the £3.5 million.

Hermann Hreidarsson will again be missing when Town play the friendly with Peterborough on Sunday. Hreidarsson has an inflamed achilles and will be rested.

Returning will be Keith Branagan who had a muscle strain. Also back will be Alun Armstrong and Tommy Miller. Jim Magilton is still missing with his hamstring problem while Richard Logan continues his absence with a knee problem. John McGreal and Mark Venus also have slight injuries.

Squad: Marshall, Branagan, Salmon, Wilnis, Makin, Clapham, Brown, Bramble, J Miller, Holland, Wright, T Miller, Reuser, Abidallah, Stewart, Couñago, Armstrong, Naylor, Bent, Karic, Nicholls.

The Academy teams continue their pre-season with a number of interesting games in the offing.

The U15s and U17s are to play teams from a international school in Tokyo on Saturday. While there is a trip to a tournament in Keele for the U16s. They will play Blackburn, Celtic and the national sides from Qatar and Peru.

An U19 squad is on its way to Heerenveen to train with the Dutch side. An unofficial link between the two sides was set-up last season.
