Wickham Nets Again for England - Ipswich Town News
Connor Wickham netted his second England U17s goal in two games as his side defeated Slovakia 2-0 at Northampton last night to qualify for the European Championship Finals with a 100% record from their qualifying group. The 17-year-old bundled the ball home from close range in the second half after the Slovakian keeper had parried.
Wickham, who was winning his ninth U17 cap with the goal his sixth at that level, also scored in Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Sweden but was left out of the team which beat Malta 5-0 on Monday.
The striker is set to return to Portman Road today and he is expected to put pen to paper on his first professional deal with the Blues soon after, despite interest from a host of Premier League sides.
