Evans\'s Donations to Lib Dems Total ÂŁ530,000 - Ipswich Town News

Town owner and chairman Marcus Evans has donated ÂŁ530,000 to the Liberal Democrats over the last four years, according to a report this morning. Evans is a long-time supporter of the Lib Dems and has set up a call centre in the Portman Road gym for their use during the election campaign.

A spokesperson for Evans quoted in the piece appears to dismiss widespread reports which have claimed that the Town owner is a tax exile: "The bottom line is that he has never been a non-dom and he is registered by HMRC as a resident in the UK.”

The report also reveals that Companies House documentation shows that the Marcus Evans Group paid only ÂŁ7,757 in UK tax during 2007, having made ÂŁ1.8 million in profits on a turnover of ÂŁ55 million.
